Best in Lagos: Top 3 Places to Get Cheesecake Right Now

No one should have to endure cheesecake; it shouldn’t *ever* be a thing 😭 Buuut, we have had our fair share of struggles in that department, over the years. Fortunately, the EDL gang have found a few diamonds in the rough, places that are doing the damn thing and churning out cheesecake that’s worthy of being called comfort food.

In honour of National Cheesecake Day last month, we put together a much-needed list of where to get/eat the bomb-est cheesecake right now, and here it is👇🏾

P.S. we tried only the caramel cheesecake at these spots to keep bias to the very minimum.

#3 Pizze-Riah

where: 13 Musa Yar' Adua Street, Victoria Island

price: n2000

Although quite yum, Pizze-Riah’s cheesecake came in at the bottom of our list because, compared to the others, something was immediately lacking. It didn’t taste as rich and indulgent. The cheesecake base also had oats in it, which is quite common, but if you don’t like the taste of oats, this might be a little off-putting.

#2 CACTUS

where: 20/24 Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island

price: n4500

Cactus does serve up nice cheesecake, but for its price (the most expensive on this list), we didn’t quite get the oomph we were looking for. Maybe expectations were too high? It could have ended up as our top pick, but the next spot on the list really gave Cactus a run for its money.

#1 ERIC KAYSER

where: 864a Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, Victoria Island

price: n2700

There are few things Eric Kayser doesn’t do right, and cheesecake isn’t one of them. The cream cheese had the perfect consistency, the biscuit base has the right amount of crunch and bite, and both elements worked really well together. For under 3k as well, this is a good deal and super satisfying.

Honourable mentions:

RSVP — They do do a mean cheesecake that ticks all the boxes. Although it’s just under 9k (N8600) and may not be everyone’s cup of tea price-wise, it’s classic and delicious.

OX — More recently, we were fairly impressed with the cheesecake at OX. The creamy filling, syrup and strawberry on top of it all tasted fresh and lovely, but we think they went a little too heavy on the biscuit crust. It’s yours for N5700.
