Best in Lagos: The Midnight Munchies Edition

The way the Lagos night scene is set up, you’re most likely to start your night at South, hop to Vertigo or Zorya, and then have the grand finale at Velvet or some other happening club. Somewhere in between all that or right at the very end, you’ll probably get hungry and need a quick bite.

We’ve done the hard work of putting together a list of some of the top 24/7 restaurants to try, so you don’t have to go to a T-junction to get food 👍🏾

1. Prime Chinese

860A Bishop Aboyade Cole StREET, Victoria Island

These guys have been on the block for quite a while now, and they’re still serving good food AND ambience 24/7. The ambience part is really important because you still want to get your money’s worth, even though the hour is ungodly.

Prime Chinese gives you the full experience, including steamed towels to help you wipe away the debauchery of the night — and if you’re in no mood to eat in, the best part is they do deliveries.

Their location is also great because they’re close to most of the clubs and lounges in V.I.

2. Maroccaine Restaurant

317B Akin Ogunlewe street, off Ligali Ayorinde StREEt, victoria island

Also nestled in the heart of Victoria Island is Maroccaine — one of those “If you know, you know” places. What that means is: If you weren’t looking for it, you won’t find it. Their Lebanese/Nigerian menu is quite impressive and the legend is true — their chicken wings are top tier.

If you plan on dining in after the hours of 1am though, you should be aware that their regulars consist primarily of Boomers, so don’t be surprised if you bump into a Big Uncle there.

3. Farmcity Lounge

15 Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase I

Possibly the best thing about Farmcity is that it’s not hard to miss. So, as long as you’re on Admiralty Way and your vision is half decent, you’ll see them straight away. It’s, therefore, no surprise they decided to utilise this visibility by offering 24/7 services.

Best known for their shawarma and grilled fish, they do the Lord’s work by keeping the night life-rs nicely fed, week in week out.

4. Midnight City Lagos

Alma 7A, unit 2, Richmond Gate estate, Lekki

As the name implies, they — thankfully — cater to midnight crawlers and crack-of-dawn cravings (pregnant women, come and take notes). Midnight City has an interesting menu, with options that range from small chops, to Jollof rice. I have to give a special shout out to their breakfast burger, which has sunny side up eggs and bacon in it, *so* apt for when you’re hungry at 3am.

It’s important to note that they’re open from 7pm — 4am, Tuesdays to Sundays, so you don’t get stranded on Mondays. They also have a partnership with a brand that makes yummy cocktails, which isn’t a bad combination when you need to regain your energy after a night of jollification.
