We Reimagined Nollywood Stars As Pasta Dishes

People are like pasta dishes - you learn to take the good with the complicated, messy and dramatic parts.

You might hate them, love them or maybe they don’t even show up on your radar, but we have to admit that our Nollywood movies and their actors are definitely in a class of their own when it comes to the drama.

As a homage to our favourite stars, we thought to reimagine them as pasta dishes. Enjoy!

Spicy Seafood Pasta (Tonto Dike)

Just like Tonto Dikeh, this dish is spicy and takes no prisoners. She has a bite to her and she knows it. Want to enjoy a mean spaghetti, then definitely eat it with sauce - word to Tonto’s iconic tweet from 2012.

Chicken Pesto Pasta (Genevieve Nnaji)

Genevieve Nnaji is indisputably the top two acts Nollywood has ever produced, and she’s not number two. But like pesto pasta, she is inaccessible and difficult to pin down. With her stellar reputation, it takes a really powerful story to get Genevieve on the screen these days - and we could say the same about finding good pesto pasta in Lagos.

Spaghetti and Meatballs (Mawuli Gavor)

If you didn’t know him before, you probably know Mawuli Gavor from the Elozonam-Diane-Mawuli nightclub situation. Looks aside though, as an actor Mawuli is spaghetti and meatballs: takes so much work to get the meatballs right, and looks amazing in photos, but when you actually take a bite, the reward hardly ever complements all that effort.

Ayamase Pasta (Funke Akindele)

Ayamase pasta is not very popular, but that’s where the differences from Funke stops. The Jenifa headline actress is widely loved and celebrated, especially for her local appeal. She also reportedly has a bite much like the pepper in ayamase.

Alfredo Pasta (Adesua Etomi)

Adesua is Nollywood's onscreen sweetheart and she boasts of credits in films like The Wedding Party to Sugar Rush. Much like alfredo pasta, she’s popular and you can rest assured to find her in almost any blockbuster movie, or in the case of the alfredo, any restaurant.

Lasagne (RMD)

The best lasagne has a perfect ratio of ground beef to pasta, and that's big RMD energy. He's been in the industry for a long time and with every generation, he reinvents himself and his craft, keeping the balance between ancient and modern.

Jollof Pasta (Sharon Ooja)

Jollof pasta might be comfort food but the fact remains that it’s hard to understand what it wants to be. On the one hand, it’s easy and delicious if prepared with a great stew base but where is the protein, hunnie? Sharon is growing to become a big deal in Nollywood but like jollof spaghetti, the range is limited. Well, she’s relatively new in the acting scene. Time will tell if the dish/actress evolves to become a fully-formed household name.
