White House Owner Shot Dead By Robbers In Lagos
Alhaji Aliu Sheu, a popular Lagos restauranteur and owner of the popular amala joint, White House, at Sabo, Yaba, was killed by suspected armed robbers last week.
Alhaji Aliu's house was reportedly robbed on Monday, January 21, where the robbers made away with his gadgets and his ATM card, making a transfer of N360,000.
After Aliu made a report at Pedro Police Station the following day, the alleged robbers reportedly returned that night and shot him twice without taking anything from the house. The 48-year-old was confirmed dead after being rushed to General hospital, Somolu.
In a series of (now-deleted) tweets, Shina Sheu, a member of Alhaji Aliu's family, confirmed Alhaji Aliu’s death.
Eat Drink Lagos spoke to Bola Aliu, a member of the family, who also confirmed the sad news over the phone. He lamented about how the system failed his brother, who fulfilled his part as an upstanding citizen by reporting his robbery to the police but was not protected by the system he trusted.
According to PUNCH Metro, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, stated that a suspect has been arrested and is currently under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba.
White House temporarily shut down operations, but reopened on Saturday and are serving customers. According to Bola Aliu, “He (Alhaji Aliu) put so many things in place to make sure that even when he's not around…it (the business) will keep growing.”
The family confirmed that Alhaji Aliu has been buried in his hometown in Ilorin, Kwara State. Our condolences are with his grieving family and friends, and we hope the police serve justice in this case.
