The 10 Worst Restaurants Meals In Lagos As Told By EDL Followers
Last week, we asked our Instagram followers to tell us the worst thing they’ve ever eaten at a restaurant, and where they had it.
The replies were hilarious, as expected, but also kind of sad because it seems we're all eating trash in this Lagos. Some of the usual suspects came up (rhymes with 'tee loom') and some might have been a case of an off day in the kitchen.
Either way, consider this an exposé into the most-complained about items on the menus of Lagos restaurants and eateries.
1. The seafood pasta at Casper and Gambini
The seafood pasta with tomato sauce at Casper and Gambini’s came up multiple times for being more like ‘fish stew and spaghetti’. There’s also a report of stale sandwich bread, a rookie mistake that no restaurant should be making.
The complaints about Maison Kayser are very notable because people just seemed to have a problem with everything on the menu. One complaint said everything their party ordered was ‘unmemorable’. Harsh.
3. Chicken salad at Backyard
There was an ‘awful’ chicken salad and a lot of reports of stale chicken burger. Someone even said “everything from Backyard” and we don’t even know what to say to that except…what’s now the point?
4. La Brioche’s chicken and waffles
The burger and oxtail pasta from La Brioche came under fire, as did the chicken and waffles for having bloody chicken-twice! Could this be a case of the philosophical differences in cooking chicken Nosa always talks about?
5. Hard Rock Café with the rock hard steak
A dry and rocky club sandwich fulfilling their name and sub-par jollof rice were the chief complaints about Hard Rock.
6. The entire Tea Room
The burger and chicken with waffles had a common complaint – they were both hard and tasteless. The spaghetti Bolognese was also heavily criticised. If you're active on Nigerian social media, you'll remember that Tea Room trended last year for dragging complaining customers all over the internet but there must be something in the overpriced tea that keeps people coming.
7. The Metaphor - is the taste of the food hidden, like a metaphor? (I’m sorry, guys)
Avocado chicken and shrimp salad fell short for having stale ingredients and bitter veggies. Was this an off day? Do better, guys.
8. The non-Nigerian dishes at Danfo Bistro
The spaghetti Bolognese and ramen at Danfo Bistro came under question. There's no excuse for bad food, but Danfo Bistro is famous for Nigerian fusion meals. Ordering ramen here is a weird choice, tbh.
9. HSE’s duck lasagne
HSE tried something with their duck lasagne, but the message missed the mark because it was the most complained-about item on their menu. A close second is the seafood rice (there was a case of food poisoning), and the avocado and egg toast also came under fire for being ‘soggy’ and ‘cold’.
10. Vanilla Moon’s paella
There were reports of classic penne arrabbiata that just didn’t cut it, and a tasteless paella came up more than once.
