EDL Weekender: Empanadas With A Twist And Live Jazz

NOSA: Before we get into anything, I'm still in shock over what happened to Nuli Juice Lounge yesterday. I don't know all the sides to it and to be honest, I don't particularly care. The videos and pictures were simply heartbreaking. I watched that woman's business go to shit in a matter of seconds.

Now, you rock eaters unable to resist playing devil's advocate, I pray you find your humanity at some point. In the meantime, if you loved Nuli's Naaninis and juices like I did, you can still get your fix.

EAT: Empanadas @ Ginger Tapas

NOSA: These are a fantastic take on the empanadas I'm familiar with. For the Philistines in house, an empanada is pretty much a Spanish meat pie. The ones at Ginger Tapas taste like stuffed puff-puff. I'm a big fan.

FOLLY: I get what Nosa is saying about the pastry being similar to puff-puff. This is because the pastry on empanadas is usually flaky but this was dense. I also like that they split the empanadas in half and put salsa in the middle.

DRINK: Sao Special @ Sao Cafe

NOSA: The drink itself isn't particularly any good, but the senrenre it comes with makes it worth a try, at least once.

FOLLY: It's just really, really strong and you have to wait for the flame to go out before you can drink it. You should also try the mojito/strawberry daiquiri at Sao.

LAGOS: Jazz Nights

EMEKA: Live Jazz at the Ace Pool Bar, BBQ, and  Happy Hour from 7pm - 8pm. Sounds like a plan for Saturday. Especially if the turn up was too much on Friday.

Location: Victoria Crown Plaza Hotel, 292B Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos
