EDL Weekender: Win Tickets to the Culture Custodian Day Festival

Our good friends at Culture Custodian are organizing their first ever festival and we're pretty excited to be part of it in our own little way. CC have been a partner for our Festival since the very first one so we're kinda glad they reached out with their own Festival.

On Sunday 24th of December 2017, from 12 Noon to 11PM, the inaugural Culture Custodian Festival shall hold at Meadow Hall School, Lekki.

With a carefully curated festival, the aim is to create an experience where attendees can vibe while consuming the sounds of some of the best underground musicians to continue to push their way into the public light in tandem with some mainstream acts. The festival shall serve as the coming together of music, food and fashion.

The vibe reminds me a lot of SXSW and pioneered those rocks in college because I loved live music. We're  giving away free tickets and a couple food vouchers. To enter, just drop a line in the comments or on Twitter letting us know which artists you're trying to see at Culture Custodian Day Festival.

In performance, we shall see the likes of Mayorkun, Boj, DJ Obi, WavyTheCreator, D-O, Zamir, Tomi Thomas, DJ Femo, DJ Bristar, DJ Baj, Yinka Bernie, Fasina, Minz, Traplanta, Jinmi Abduls, WANI and Oma Mahmud. Many of who have made large strides as artists this year with debut projects and impressive releases.

The youth also take center stage on the fashion front with vendors like Garmspot, Moxie Lagos and WafflesnCream, who shall also be on the block with a skate park!

One big thing this Christmas has been the abundance of alté shows. Can't recall a December that has had this many "indie" musicians headlining their own shows. Maybe there has and no one has told me, but this December feels very much like a big step in the growth of the local industry. Nobody personifies that growth more than Wizkid. Therefore, this week's playlist is Wizkid themed. It's only right.

EAT.DRINK.NOK

NOK has a couple of things lined up for the long weekend as they're hellbent on being the only place we spend our money this Christmas.

Thank NOK it's Friday

New DJ this week - The Kemist. If you haven't been to NOK on a Friday, this is the best time to pop your cherry. Get a couple of friends and split a platter in the garden.

BONUS

Remember the thing I said about live music this Christmas? Yeah, there's a lot of that this weekend. We've selected a couple we'd actually go to though. Nativeland, because new artists are ridiculously fun. Bez Live, because I went to school with Bez and I will always support Loyola kids unless they turn out to be murderers or something.
