Easter in Lagos 2023: Where to Eat This Holiday Weekend

There’s something low-key in the air about this year’s Easter holiday. Is it post-election blues? Is it that we’re all still recovering from the chaos of the last few months, and are just finding our footing again? Whatever it is, the bottom line is: Problem no dey finish — particularly in this part of the world — so pack up your worries and eat good, this weekend.

Whether you’re making plans for a family day out, solo dining or looking for some buffet action on Easter Sunday, here’s a list of our current top recommendations.

FOR OUTDOOR DINING THAT SLAPS…

You should try Turaka. It has one of the best views in Lagos and the vibes are vibing. As for the food, there’s definitely rooftop tax in that pricing, but it’s quality nonetheless.

Ed note: Avoid the Toll Gate cocktail on their menu, by all means, if you’re not a fan of bitter cocktails. Oyinda learnt her lesson, so you wouldn't have to.

where: 1637 Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island

Price range > N15000-N20000 (per head)

Turaka, Victoria Island

FOR REALLY GOOD GRUB…

RSVP is an OG EatDrinkLagos fave (#iykyk). They’re committed to keeping things fresh and have generally stayed consistent over the years.

It’s a great place to treat yourself to a prolonged solo lunch or go for dinner with friends.

where: 9 Eletu Ogabi Street, Victoria Island

Price range > N30000-N40000 (per head)

HSE Gourmet is also a favourite over here. Like RSVP, they’ve been around for a little while, but are still doing the Lord’s work when it comes to serving good food at decent-ish prices.

For a hearty meal, keep this one on your list.

where: 25 Babatope Bejide Crescent, Lekki Phase I

Price range > N20000-N30000 (per head)

FOR GREAT DRINKS/BAR SERVICE…

Go to SLoW. Like Folly said, “the first thing you notice about SLoW is the bar, unlike most other restaurants where the bar is off to the side. The bar and the drinks are the best things about SLoW and it’s right front and centre.”

Plus: The food is top-notch, too. Make a reservation and make a night out of it.

where: 2 Musa Yar' Adua Street, Victoria Island

PRICE RANGE: N30000-N40000 (per head)

SLoW

FOR A GOOD FAMILY-FRIENDLY SPOT…

Pop by Cactus, if you just want decent food, an outdoor play area for the kids and a generally pleasant day out. It’s also a bit of an all-in-one because they have a patisserie in-house as well, for yum baked goodies and ice cream on your way out.

where: 20/24 Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island

PRICE RANGE: N15000-N25000 (per head)

FOR A QUIET NIGHT IN…

Order something yum from Artist & Scientist. They’re known more for event catering, but they do do takeaway under a brand called StreetPots. Check out their menu and order here.

PRICE RANGE: N2500-N5000 (per head)

FOR A COSY FRIEND DATE…

The Room Cafe is cute and cosy enough for a nice conversation over cocktails in cool glasses and a nice lunch. “If you’re in the mood for a lengthy tea-drinking sesh with a friend, they also have a cute sunroom,” Tolani says.

where: 190b Prince Ade Odedina Street, Victoria Island

PRICE RANGE: N20000-N30000 (per head)

FOR AN EASTER SUNDAY BUFFET…

Any major hotel in Lagos will have something going on in the buffet department this Easter Sunday, so take your pick (at your own risk 👀).

We loosely suggest going for the one at Southern Sun (Mövenpick) or if you’re on the Mainland, Koriko & Co at Marriott Hotel in Ikeja has a decent enough spread. Just be sure to book a table ahead, it’s dog eat dog out there!

where: 47 Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi (Southern Sun)

where: 122 Joel Ogunnaike Street, Ikeja GRA (Marriott Hotel)

PRICE RANGE: N19000-N25000 (per head)

Koriko & Co, Marriott Hotel Ikeja
