This Lagos Restaurant Does Not Want Gen Z Guests

Detty December is only two months away. A new “fine dining” restaurant and lounge has opened in Victoria Island, as is the annual custom. In ZaZa’s case, they actually don’t claim fine dining, but that’s not the most shocking about their Instagram bio. Apparently, ZaZa doesn’t want any guests below 25.

18+ I understand, but basically, ZaZa has cancelled Gen Z’s, and I wonder why. Actually, I can think of few reasons, none of which I agree with, however.

  1. ZaZa is fed up with Gen Z fashions

They don’t want to resort to a notice like Cactus did, so they’ve decided not to let them in at all. I stan a proactive restaurant that learns from its peers. Let’s also hope they are equally as proactive with sourcing ingredients for their menu items.

2. ZaZa is worried about Gen Z’s mental health

According to many Nigerian Tweeters, the world has over coddled Gen Z’s, which has made them lazy, and they use their mental health as an excuse for everything. ZaZa doesn’t want to hear that a Gen Z guest didn’t pay their bill because of mental health.

Sharing a screenshot of the tweet - which is very insensitive, in case you don’t have a VPN and never saw it.

3. Maybe ZaZa is owned by the CBN Governor

We all know that the CBN governor bans anything stopping $1 = NGN 1 - Crypto, Bamboo, Chaka, RiseVest, AbokiFX and even trees. Think about it… we never had FX issues until Gen Z came along, so it’s clearly their fault. It’s probably their coloured hair, so he had to take matters into his ever-capable hands and banned them.

4. Gen Zers do not wear bras

Gen Z fashions are not compatible with the almost endangered women’s clothing item - the brassiere. ZaZa’s management doesn’t like that, so they did what Meffy would do and just banned them.

5. TikTok-ers are not welcome.

TikTok is the ultimate Gen Z app. Although ZaZa looks like it was built for Instagram pictures, they clearly don’t want anybody doing those cheerleader dances in their restaurant-meets-lounge.

I wonder if ZaZa will eventually relent and start letting Gen Zers into their restaurant/lounge. In fact, I wonder how they plan to enforce it. Do they plan to card people like abroad bars? Either way, the policy makes no sense nor do any of these reasons but let’s see.
