The 7 Essential Brunch Restaurants In Lagos

Editor’s note: Like everything in this city, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a premium to moderately-priced food or you’re just there aesthetics that will complement your Instagram feed. The wahala is that with many Lagos restaurants, the vibe is “anything you see, take it like that”.

To separate the wheat from the chaff, we curated this list of essential brunch restaurants (okay, they’re not primarily brunch restaurants but they serve a mean brunch spread).

In Lagos, almost every restaurant serves breakfast staples; you know, different variations of eggs and so on. Brunches these days make the perfect excuse to get drunk at breakfast, shout out to mimosas. From heavenly pastries to dangerously potent cocktails; here’s where you can find breakfast and brunch in Lagos.

Samantha’s Bistro

Where: 7 Rumens Rd, Ikoyi,

Breakfast doesn’t always have to be fancy carbs. Sometimes it’s a juicy patty with a side of something deep-fried. The Gourmet Burger Bar at Samantha’s serves up some inventive burgers to go with the mimosas. The brioche rolls are also decent.

La Brioche has a rather impressive brunch menu with the Tiramisu French toast taking the spotlight. The brioche is also consistently good and makes a solid companion for their lobster hash.

Since its transformation, Deli’s Cafe has developed a rather impressive breakfast and cafe service with fresh pastries and decadent hot beverages. The prices could be a little less heavy, though.

Head to Nok for a touch of fusion cooking in your next brunch. The menu includes Agege toast, shrimp akara with coconut pap, coconut pancakes, and so on. There’s also a takeout option for this menu if you’re looking to brunch at home.

Craft Gourmet describes the decor as “a small slice of Paris in Lagos”. Well, they ain’t never lied, it’s a cute space. Consider their wide range of artisanal baked goods or order directly from the brunch menu if you’re sharing.

Flowershop Cafe

Where: 274 Akin Adesola St, Victoria Island

Starting out with an all-day breakfast menu, Flowershop has transitioned to lunch and dinner offerings. Still, the OG breakfast menu remains a darling in Lagos. The decor is tastefully done and makes a perfect backdrop for the “my view”, “her view” photos you’ll post on Valentine’s Day.

Chef Nkesi’s creation might be popular for serving generous quantities of wholesome comfort food, but in the mornings, you’ll find an impressive menu of breakfast staples like eggs and French toast. Winning the EDL Restaurant Of The Year award twice in a row also means you’ll also find quality fare at HSE Gourmet.

Honourable Mentions

Honourable mentions are pâtisseries; XO Bakery and Marcelino’s for their decadent pastries. They’re not full restaurants but you’ll find the delivery of brunch staples like croissants and bagels if you’re strictly looking at ordering takeout.
