A Definitive Ranking of Popular Desserts

Dessert is definitely the highlight of any meal. The sweet flavours, amazing textures and comforting aromas make the perfect end to any meal. But not every dessert is created equal. Here’s a ranking of desserts from ‘meh’ to OMG!

Cheesecake

Cheesecake is alright. The texture is pretty good, but it’s definitely not worth risking the lactose intolerance blowout for.

Ranking: Very mid, not worth the farting.

Tiramisu

Tiramisu is the dream of the indecisive. This isn't necessarily a good thing. If you’re struggling to pick a dessert; you don’t have to. Just have some tiramisu.

Ranking: Despite the mixing and matching of flavours, it comes out so ordinary. Not the best for savouring the beauty of individual dessert textures.

Panna Cotta

Everything about panna cotta sounds fancy, from the name to the finish. It’s like the popular guy you spend all year admiring from afar. But once you actually get to know him, you’re disappointed by the lack of depth and range.

Ranking: The prettiest dessert in the rooms, but that’s all it has to offer.

Crème brûlée

The highlight of eating crème brûlée is cracking the caramel top. After that, the experience is pretty underwhelming.

Ranking: Purely for aesthetics, glorified ogi.

Deep Dish Cookie

There’s something about chocolate chip cookies that appeals to the nostalgic feeling of secretly eating your snacks before lunch as a child. Or buying forbidden sweets with your lunch money. Decadent, sinful, delicious with grave consequences to your waistline.

Ranking: The taste of nostalgia, even better if you have one more than you should. Best served in a giant skillet.

Ice Cream

Ice cream as a dessert is elite because it balances out the flavours with its coolness. There are levels to this ice cream business.

Ranking: A classic dessert, as long as you don’t count mint ice cream

Chocolate Mousse

There are about three people on the planet who know how to make the perfect chocolate mousse. Perhaps that’s what makes it so special. The secret to the perfect mousse, however, is perfectly whisked raw eggs.

Ranking: A rarity that’s worth the risk of salmonella

Chocolate Cake

Rejoice. Gone are the days when the only time you could get your hands on the perfect chocolate cake was at birthdays and weddings. Well, every time a chocolate cake makes an appearance is a celebration. This chocolaty goodness has earned its spot on the dessert hall of fame.

Ranking: Top two desserts and not number 2.
