Where To Find Seafood Boil In Lagos

For a coastal city that’s named after lakes, finding good seafood in Lagos can be a bit of a hassle. If you’re looking for something beyond fish and stew, like a comforting bowl of shellfish, you may have to look outside the usual hotspots to satisfy your cravings.   

Here are 4 places to find average to decent seafood boil in Lagos.


NYS Atelier by Chef Obehi

Chef Obehi is an impressively skilled chef whose Instagram posts are beautiful to look at.  Her new NYS Atelier menu has a lobster boil in addition to the seafood boil. The lobster boil features potatoes, Cajun, and of course, a whole lobster. The seafood boil has jumbo prawns, crawfish, crab calamari, and sweet corn. 


Ocean Basket

Ocean Basket has 3 seafood soups, but surprisingly, no boils. The meals are still pretty average, but if you want a generous helping of prawns, it’s a good place to look. 

They have some cream soup on their menu, including the creamy seafood soup and the creamy mussel soup. The mussel soup is simple, with mussels and potato pieces. The seafood soup includes calamari prawns and potions of hake fish. 

If you like a more traditional soup, the seafood pepper soup features a mildly spiced soup with premixed spices along with calamari prawns and portions of hake fish.


Poshnoms  

Another independent chef on this list in Poshnoms. Unlike the other places on this list, the meal comes frozen to prevent spoilage and spillage by Lagos roads, according to the chef. You’d have to send a DM on Instagram to order. The seafood boil contains Calamari, prawns, fish chunks, potatoes, crabs, and a cob of sweet corn. 


Pay Can Cook

The independent cooks are really saving the day with their seafood boils. If you’ve got company, or just a large appetite, Pay Can Cook has 3 rich seafood boil platters on her menu. The Parielle Platter has three big crabs (or six small crabs), two prawns, one lobster, three corn cobs, and three potatoes.

The Creole Platter has five big crab legs, five jumbo prawns, two big lobsters, five corn cobs, and five potatoes. The Dome Platter has 8 big crab legs, 10 king-size prawns, 10 corn cobs, and 10 potatoes. You can also throw in an extra side of spicy snails for each platter.
