Open on Monday: Where to Eat in Lagos on Mondays
Monday is a dead day for dining out in Lagos. Most restaurants in the city take the day off to refresh and get their kitchens in order for the week. That’s great for them, but not for us because we have to eat.
There are a couple restaurants in the city that DO open on Mondays, however. And because Eat.Drink.Lagos is for the people, we’ve compiled a list of restaurants that open on Monday. Shout out to @caaniiball for the alley oop. This post was inspired by her tweet.
La Taverna is an Chilean restaurant that doesn’t play with their coins. These guys are open from 8 am every day, including Mondays. They are located in Victoria Island and as we said before, they have the best pizza in Lagos.
Crust and Cream
11 Musa Yar' Adua St, Victoria Island, Lagos
Crust and Cream, located in Victoria Island, is a bakery, bistro and restaurant hybrid. They open from 10 am on Mondays and Tuesdays. Also, they have a half decent breakfast menu for those who wish to have a good nosh before wandering into the office (this is probably not a good idea if you are not your own boss).
Lighthouse Bar & Grill
Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase I, Lagos
Located on Admiralty Way in Lekki One, Lighthouse is another good restaurant that also opens on Mondays. Their plating leaves a lot to be desired, but you’ll probably let it slide on a Monday. Also, their seafood is pretty good as well. Not so sure about the paella though
Woks & Koi
5 Adebayo Doherty Rd, Lekki Phase I, Lagos
Just in case the name hasn’t already given you a hint, Woks and Koi is a Chinese cuisine restaurant also located in Lekki One. We haven’t been yet, but they are open from noon to 11 pm every day.
Orchid Bistro Express
40B Raymond Njoku St, Ikoyi, Lagos
Orchid Bistro is all about getting their paper because these guys open at 7 am. The restaurant is a cosy space with locations in both Ikoyi and Ikeja. Unfortunately, they close pretty early, for a restaurant, at 9 pm but I would too if I have to be at work from 7 am.
Circa Lagos
2 Kola Adeyina Cl, Lekki Phase I, Lagos
We say places are “tucked in” all the time, but Circa is for real tucked inside Lekki. While the “other Circa” has made all the noise, Circa Lagos has its moments. The breakfast, for example, is not half bad. Could be better, but it’s workable. They also open on Mondays through Sundays from 8:30 am.
Maison Kayser
Maison Kayser is open every day of the week from as early as 7 am. It’s a French cafe meets bistro that recently opened up a franchise in Lagos. Check out Nosa and Folly’s review here.
PS: their gelato is amaze..
A Lagos institution and perfect for a pre-work biteIf you want to grab a quick nosh before heading to work, Cactus could also work for you, because they are open from 7 am. As long as Lagos traffic works in your favour.
Ocean Basket
35 Akin Adesola St, Victoria Island, Lagos
It’s not the greatest seafood restaurant, but it’s good enough. Ocean Basket is a South African franchise operating in Lagos and there have 3 restaurants across Lagos. Their branch at Victoria Island opens at 10:30 am, same with the one at Ikeja GRA, while the one located at the Ikeja Mall opens the earliest at 8 am.
Casper & Gambini’s
Ikeja City Mall, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos
Alibert Building, 19 Agoro Odiyan St, Victoria Island, Lagos
Casper and Gambini’s is open almost all day from 8 am to 12 am. Folarin highly recommends the pesto pasta in his review here. They are also located in Victoria Island and Ikeja City Mall.
Also open on Monday…
Danfo Bistro
2 Alexander Road, Ikoyi, Lagos
Casa Lydia
19 Glover Road, Ikoyi, Lagos
In conclusion, bookmark this post, save it and share it with friends because you know someone is going to ask on Twitter next Monday, “what restaurant is open today?”
