Nominate Your 2020 Restaurant of the Year

It’s hard to believe another year has rolled by and we’re now in the 6th year of our annual Eat.Drink.Lagos Restaurant of the year award. It’s also hard to believe we have spent the better part of 2020 indoors and not at restaurants, events, weddings, on the beach, in traffic and other places we Lagosians often find ourselves.

If you’ve listened to any episode of our podcast, you’ve learnt how restaurants like RSVP, HSE, and La Taverna have had to adjust to the harsh realities of the pandemic on their businesses.

On our team, our biggest fear for the industry was whether some restaurants may not survive this period and not have to close down. Unfortunately, some restaurants have closed permanently but the majority seem to be surviving and some even thriving. Overall, this period has really been humbling to many establishments (Eko Hotel offered delivery and laundry FFS), but the hospitality industry in Nigeria has shown its resilience and adaptability throughout this period (no thanks to our government if we’re keeping it buck).

We’re hopeful for 2021 and with that brief spiel we’re excited to open nominations for the 2020 Eat.Drink.Lagos Restaurant of the Year.

Since 2016, this prestigious award (I say this every year) has been given to the best restaurant in Lagos as voted by our readers. In 2015, Nosa and I went out on a whim and announced the restaurant of the year as RSVP, let’s just say we weren’t into democracy yet but we’ve changed now. Here are all the winners since that time.

  • 2015 - RSVP

  • 2016 - Craft Gourmet

  • 2017 - Nok by Alara

  • 2018 - RSVP

  • 2019 - HSE

In previous years, only restaurants with a physical location have been eligible, however, given the “delivery” nature of this year we have decided to give the award in two categories this year.

  • Restaurant of the year for a brick and mortar restaurant

  • Restaurant of the year for a restaurant/food delivery without a physical location
