A Latin Fiesta Is Coming To La Taverna This Weekend

Way before Halloween became a thing, Mexicans and many Latin Americans celebrated Dia De La Muertos and its variations, a holiday dedicated to honouring and ushering prayers to their dead loved ones. Translating to ‘Day of the dead’, Dia De La Muertos is not as morbid as the name implies, rather, people show up in sugar skull face paintings, wearing their most elegant cultural outfits.

For those of us who are a bit jaded with the many costumes parties of this time of the year, La Taverna’s Latin fiesta is the place to be this weekend.

The event promises to have authentic latin dishes, from empanadas to nachos to chili con carne. Still on the topic of delicious indigenous food, Chef Cristian of La Taverna and Chef Alex will collaborate to serve meat-loaded Chilean-style sandwiches. You’ll also be treated to locally brewed craft beer from Igbadun Brewing Company. On top of that, drink specials will go for as low as N500 with the desserts starting from N1000.

What’s more? Your kids won’t be left out on the fun as there will be a bazaar and fair at the venue. You can also let out your inner child and enjoy the face and body painting sessions for children and adults. Come prepared to eat, shop and sip at La Taverna on Saturday, November 2.
