Weirdest Food Combinations As Seen On Twitter II

Human beings always move mad. Since the last time Denise wrote about this, there have been more examples of the most atrocious food combinations crossing my timeline on Twitter. And since humans have been moving mad from the beginning of time, we have decided to make this into something like a series, and so we’ll be bringing you updates on the weird things people eat, straight from our respective timelines. And so, I begin with:

The abominable Poundo-mie:

When my co-worker first showed me a picture of this on her phone, I cackled for about three minutes straight. After laughing at the ridiculousness of the name “Poundo-mie” and the horrific idea that some sort of swallow should or can be made out of unhealthy, sodium-coated noodles, I resolved that it had to be a joke, along with the Indomie crepes and other horror stories featured in this Twitter post.

Ponmo pizza

This one should have come with a warning sign because I was certainly not expecting it. There is a young man somewhere who is making “pizza” using ponmo as one of the toppings. I put pizza in quotes because anything with ponmo in it is automatically Nigerian food. I was open to trying this -but only in theory because when our editor suggested it, I felt real fear. Lol, please people, ponmo only belongs in native soups like efo riro and pepper sauce for bole.

Dodo Ice cream

I have to say, I want to sit with this user and ask her strategic questions, one of which is WHY?? How did you come up with this and why? In summary, she put vanilla ice cream and fried plantain in a bowl. And it’s not even crisp plantain but the mushy one. You know, the type that’s like two seconds away from being completely rotten? The type whose sweetness has become overwhelming and cloying? Yes, that one. In a bowl with ice cream. After my initial aversion though, I’ll admit, I thought about it, and I might not even mind trying a spoonful just to say that I have, but it’s not something I would do. No.

Plantain chips and beans

This one was just hilarious. This guy literally created his own happiness by adding plantain chips to his beans at lunch. I would not try it, but the truth is happiness is free and so I cannot even be mad at this.

This last one is someone that I’m certain should be arrested because this has to be against the law. Also, I have to add that plantain has been disrespected enough on these streets, so let’s all be guided okay?
