Nosa Lost His Amala Virginity

L'Afric Restaurant

NOSA: The day has finally come, lads. I tried amala for science. Don’t ever say i never did anything for you.

Ok, I’ll be honest I only had one spoon/fork of it. LOL no way I’m eating a whole wrap. Only Yoruba bricklayers like Folly do that.

FOLLY: You're so so so so rude.

I suggested to Nosa that we grab lunch at L'Afric cause my cousin told me she got amala here a couple weeks ago.

I had Amala with eweduGoat Meat.

NOSA: I got the the L’Afric Special Fried Rice, which is essentially jollof rice with all the fried rice extras and plantain on the side. Oh, it had chicken cubes and some shrimp in it.

NOSA: The rice was real meh. Your mother probably makes better and your mother’s rice no too tap like that. The plantain was cold, like it was made a long time ago and they put it in the microwave for 30 secs before dumping it on my plate. Weird because plantain is the easiest thing to make. If as a restaurant you can’t make fresh plantain, perhaps this isn’t the business for you.

FOLLY: This amala was one of the worst I've ever had. It was so thick, dense and chewy and those are three words you never want to use to describe amala uno. Amala gets a good rap for being light, airy and that you don't feel weighed down after eating it.

When I got back to work I couldn't concentrate, and all I wanted to do was sleep. I had water, several sweets, and went on walks around the office. When I got home later, I did a few things then lay down to rest for a bit and was gone till the next morning.

How do you people that eat three wraps do it ???

NOSA: I thought amala was supposed to be light and airy. You twitter people lie too much abeg. I want to try the one at White House before calling it a day, however. The ewedu it came with wasn’t bad, I liked it.

FOLLY: I also didn't get enough stew to 'drown' my amala in. The ewedu was enough but I like my mix more red than green. The goat meat was alright too but definitely could have been boiled for 10 - 15 more minutes.

NOSA: See those prices? For this? There’s always rice at home.

FOLLY: Yup, this amala no too tap. We move to try Whitehouse.
