We Found Chef Flo!
NOSA: A couple of Sundays ago, we tried to get lunch at WOTT To Eat. On arrival, we spotted a lady that looked very much like Chef Flo (from this post). After a little bit of sleuthing, I found out that not only has Chef Flo moved to Lagos, but she is the new chef at the restaurant formerly known as WOTT To Eat.
NOSA: The menu wasn't the most extensive, I didn't mind but I know people get bothered by that sort of thing.
FOLLY: Lowks it bothered me. I, at some point, considered skipping straight to dessert and getting a platter of all three options.
NOSA: I thought the garlic shrimp was excellent, the dip it came with especially.
FOLLY: I like my shrimp seared. I hate, hate, and hate tough and chewy shrimp, and so I was glad that this was everything but that.
NOSA: Since Folly didn't want to be adventurous, I went out on a limb and got the squid ink pasta. We couldn't come here and not get it. And it looked really good on Chef Flo's instagram.
FOLLY: Nosa has this new trick up his sleeves. Let's simply call it "eat my cake and have it too". He advises me to get the option on the menu that he's not sure about (but is still really curious about) while he gets the sure bet.
Nosa, you're trifling and I've caught on. As from now, I'm STAYING WOKE.
NOSA: The squid ink pasta tasted like regular pasta. Well, a vegetarian option at least. Like I ordered Healthy Option pasta or something. On a serious note, the carrots and ting were so overwhelming. It tasted like the plate was missing a little something. There was no "kick" to it, definitely couldn't taste the garlic in it. I also wasn't a fan of the kiddie portion that got served.
FOLLY: Nosa's pasta was like something you'd find on Garden to Plate. So healthy and so wholesome.
NOSA: This was really ewa agoyin with lentils. Can't tell me nothin'.
FOLLY: The lentil ragout as yummy and I wish I had more. My fish was okay and that's about it.
When I reflect on it, I feel like there was a lot of clean eating going on in this meal. Nothing was really fried or a carb overload. I also didn't feel heavy after eating it, actually no that's because I wasn't full because it was like a weight watchers portion.
NOSA: The food was good but it just felt like it was lacking something. The plates were technically sound but they tasted like it was missing some soul. I didn't leave Mansilla wishing I never I had to leave. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I really wanted to be blown away.
FOLLY: Mansilla is a toss-up for me. I could go back to get their desserts as a trio platter but for what it's worth, I love the name of the restaurant
